Background | CD119 is one of the subunits of the interferon-γ (IFN-γ) receptor and belongs to the cytokine receptor family. It forms a functional receptor with IFN-γ R2, mediating IFN-γ signaling. IFN-γ R1 is constitutively expressed on the surface of almost all cells, and its extracellular, transmembrane, and cytoplasmic domains all participate in signal transduction. Upon binding of IFN-γ to the receptor complex, IFN-γ R1 and IFN-γ R2 oligomerize and transphosphorylate, activating JAK1 and JAK2. Subsequently, STAT1 is recruited and phosphorylated, translocating to the nucleus to regulate the expression of IFN-responsive genes. CD119 plays a crucial role in antibacterial, antiviral, and antitumor responses, and its deficiency impairs IFN-γ-mediated immune responses, increasing susceptibility to infections. |
